Mar. 25th, 2012 11:28 pm I have just spent the last 3 hours trying to iron my uniforms.
I say 'trying', because no matter what I do the wrinkles are not coming out. ;__; I have ironed them both inside and outside, with steam, on a higher heat than normal, and even fresh out of the washing machine (and seriously- nothing takes out creases like ironing from wet. It could un-crease tarmac!) but nothing is working. They have gone from 'screwed up like used tinfoil' wrinkly to 'never, ever ironed' wrinkly, which is hardly an improvement when they should be smart and crease free.
All I can think of is that the fabric is faulty. -__-; I am good at ironing stuff and I got an A+ in textiles GCSE, so I know enough about fabric to know that I have not done anything bad to them. I wash them on the recommended heat every time I wash them, and until now they have ironed out just fine. But now, suddenly, all 3 of them are unusable. >_<; It's like the creases have become ingrained, or something, which usually only happens when you boil wash synthetics. These tunics are part synthetic, but they are designed to be washed at 60 degrees, in accordance with NHS guidelines, and like I said- so far, they have been fine.
In typical messed-up life fashion, they have picked a really good time to go bad, too. I have an assessment in the morning which I need them for, a Public Health Visit on Tuesday (which I need to look as smart as possible for), and shifts for the rest of the week. And I am going to look crappy through all of it, because for some reason these shitty bits of cloth have decided to mess themselves up. >_<;
My only option as far as I can see is try to get them professionally ironed tomorrow after the assessment, but if that fails, then I will need to ask Uni to replace them. Which they will try to refuse to do, and then take ages to arrange. >_<; And seeing as most of the rest of the year will be taking place in placements, it's pretty damn important that I get it sorted ASAP.
