Today has been weird and confusing, but not actually bad. Yet. I dunno.
I *may* have just been approved for surgery. It's all a bit uncertain, but the registrar had me sign a consent form and talked me through the procedure 'just in case.' She is talking to the consultant on Thursday, and then she is going to send me a letter with the outcome. She thinks it will take about 10 days.
The complications that may still get in the way are as follows:
- She looked over the results of my thrombophilia test (the test to see if I am genetically inclined to get blood clots or not), and while she saw nothing outside of the normal ranges, she was very clear about not being a blood specialist, and I will need to have the results confirmed by the doctor who ordered the test. I am seeing him on the 4th, so hopefully it will be good news. If that is clear, we are good to go. If not.... well.... I still need the op doing, but it may be more complicated and I may have to wait again.
- Even if the blood work is fine, the current waiting list for non-cancerous, non-emergency reconstructive surgery is 2-3 months, and my window of opportunity- the summer holidays- begins on the 13th of August. So it will be a very close call....... assuming the surgeon is even available at that time (he might be booked to be on holiday himself, after all....) At a push, I could risk having it in the middle of September, but it might mess up my ability to work at the beginning of the second year. I dunno. The timing just might not work, forcing me to wait even longer. >_<;
It's one of those situations where I just can't afford to get my hopes up, so even though they didn't say no, I can't really celebrate yet. Hell- at this rate, I doubt I will believe that things are going to go ahead until they actually pumping the anasthetic into me... or until I wake up afterwards....... >_>;
In Other News:
I know this is insane, but my Monster High gang has grown again. XD The other day I impulse-bought an Operetta, and then I got a refund from a bad e-bay deal, leaving me with an unexpected £20 burning a hole in my paypal account. So I promptly put down an offer on a Torelai, as I haven't seen one on the shelves around here for at least a month. Now.... if I had checked my e-mail this morning instead of rushing out to the doctor's, I might have seen that the offer was accepted. But I didn't. And on the way home I saw a Skull Shores Lagoona
in the supermarket while I was picking up some food supplies... and she just happened to be in my basket when I got to the check-out. ^__-.
But yeah, that's 3 dolls in about 5 days. I *might* have a bit of a problem. I'm honestly not sure. XD
