misguidance: (sneaky)
 So, last week I took a huge gamble and handed money over to a seller on Facebook, which is something I pretty much never do.  However, I was reassured by the fact that I could pay via Paypal, they didn't ask for the payment to be sent as a gift, and I had the extra protection of using my bank's payment protection service too, so.... I figured that it was worth taking the risk.   The reason for such recklessness?  A chance to get my hands on some very nice (but also very rare and expensive) dragons.

Of course, I kind of wish I hadn't because the next day my webcam broke, and I can't afford to replace it until I get paid again next month.  Typical, but there you go. >_>;

Anyway....

So, these bad boys are part of the Royal Doulton 'Enchantica' range.  They are very high-end collectables, designed for the kind of people who fill their house with dozens of statues of small dogs or kittens, or the like.  Only they decided to branch out into fantasy, and the end result was the semi-successful world of Enchantica.  ^__^.   I became aware of the range a few years ago when I met a lady at a car boot sale who was selling off a number of pieces for dirt cheap, but sadly I could only afford to buy one from her.  That piece was 'Nosferatus', which we now call 'Big Ugly' because he is big and ugly.  I got him for £5, but because he (and many of the other Enchantica pieces) retail for £80- £200, I never seriously considered collecting them as a range.

But then there was this guy on Facebook, who had picked up a couple from a stock auction when a local business closed down.  And for the price he was asking, I couldn't pass them up- I paid £43 in total, including shipping.  These two pieces together would have sold for around £140 new, and in fact, one of them was never officially released, making it rare even for those who did collect the range.  All of them are now discontinued, and while the second hand prices range, they are both worth a lot more than what I paid, even now.  I really did get a steal.

Of course, I was fully expecting the guy to be a scammer and for them not to arrive.  XD  So I was over the moon today when I got a massive box delivered and found them packed up inside, including original boxes and all relevant paperwork. ^__^.  I am a very happy little collector right now.

Cut for Dragons. )

And finally: my 3 Enchantica Dragons together, debating whatever it is dragons debate with wyverns.  Probably something like 'cake or pie.'

(You can just about see the small chip on Big Ugly's wing-tip in this one. -__-;  I was gutted when that happened, but he's still pretty damn awesome.)

So yeah, now I have 3 of these guys, I think it's fair to say that I officially collect Enchantica dragons now, as well as my Myth and Magic ones.  ^__^  Which is kind of cool.  Hopefully, once I'm qualified and working, I will have the money to occasionally splash out and get another one from this range, although I think I will be hard pressed to find any more for such good prices. ^__-;

Dinobird is peeling.  This is a good sign, but damn- he looks like he has plague. XD
