So, this is one I can't put on Facebook for fear of the lifestyle police arriving and telling me all the things they imagine I am doing wrong, but I need to vent.
Last night, there was a mouse in my room.
Not a small, nervous little mouse, but a full grown, big ballsy mouse, which had the nerve to run across my bed while I was still in it. -__-; I was not impressed.
Thing is, after the influx we had early last year I have gone out of my way to keep the flat free of anything that would attract the little bastards. We filled in the two holes that we could, but thanks to the stupid idiot who put in the flat's bathroom there appear to still be ways in hidden under the sideboards and under the sink, which we cannot get to and which the landlord refused to deal with last time. Now, I don't think this big mouse has been living here for very long (in fact, I think last night was his first visit) because there are no signs of infestation- I check for dropping every week, and have seen nothing. Also, he was LOUD. He banged on stuff, knocked over my lego collection, rustled like a bastard.... if he had been here for any length of time I would have heard him. So, he's probably the autumn vanguard, come to look for new digs for the winter. He and his furry pals will NOT be moving in here. >_>
I have already covered the possible ways in with peppermint oil to repel future visits, and I'll be letting Rambo patrol the hallway and maybe sniff around the darker corners of the place too. I might even take the delightful step of drying out some snake poo and putting it in some of the holes, if we find any new ones. And yes, I have taken steps to procure a humane trap too, not that they do anything because in my entire life I have never, ever seen a mouse fall for one.
Anyway, we got rid of them once, we can do it again. It's just very annoying.
Also, Ad arrived home from France after being away for 3 months, and within days we have mice. It's not actually his fault- there is literally no way it can be- but a part of me is still irrationally blaming him for it. -___-; Probably because I got used to being alone in the flat, and now I have to share my space again, which I am not enjoying.
