Aug. 17th, 2012 09:25 pm Today was interesting.
My new mentor (who is still lovely) signed me off on most of the stuff that was outstanding in my book, with the exception of my medecines management stuff, which the stuff I really hate and struggle with. She wants to go through it with me at the end of next week, so I have until then to brush up on it all and get it done. This is very good news, and she was very positive about my work.
The interesting thing is, my old mentor came in today too, after this was done, and while she seemed happy enough that I was signed off, she insisted on telling me that I had 'only just scraped by' and that if I was 'just barely passing' in my second year, they would fail me for it. >_>; Which doesn't even entirely make sense, but I know what she's getting at.... I'm just not sure that it applies. :/ I don't get how one mentor can be so negative about what I do, while the other can be so positive about it. >_>; My old mentor also seemed very keen to insist that her concerns about me had been voiced by 'many' other people, so it wasn't just her.... but it almost sounded like she was trying to justify why she didn't sign me off before (and hell- I never heard it at all before she came out with it, so if so many people had a problem with me, why did no-one else speak up first?) I am fairly certain that if my new mentor hadn't already signed me off on stuff, my old mentor would have found some excuse to fail me.
I feel like something else is going on with all this, which I am not aware of. And I don't like it at all. I am seriously considering talking to the university about it, because it is either a case of midwives not having the balls to tell students they suck- which I really don't think is the case- or someone having a deep and serious problem with me, for no real reason. And that is a very worrying thought.
