So, yesterday was a wash-out. I excused myself from Uni to go to an appointment with the anasthetic team (my consultant wants their opinion before deciding about my surgery) only to arrive and be told that they rebooked it without telling me. The lady I spoke to insisted that they had sent me a letter with the new date, but after going over it with her, I have worked out that what they actually did was send me a copy of the old appointment letter, and presumably threw away the replacement. I was not impressed, especially as not one single person apologised to me for the inconvinience, which was considerable. I made a complaint, because this is not the first time they have buggered up my appointments and every delay leads to more complications for me. To be honest, I was fucking furious about it.
After that I spend the afternoon wandering around charity shops with a friend of my from Slimming World, which was nice. She did a good job of cheering me up agian (which I badly needed) and she gave me a hand blender, (she got a new one for Christmas) so my plan this month is to learn how to make soup. It shouldn't be that hard. I'm very lucky to have good friends living so close- especially when the rest of you are all so far away! ^__-.
In Other News:
Today I slept in, got up late, and spent 3 hours re-organising my Kindle.
I seriously have no idea how an electronic book reader can get disorganised, but it does. >_> I have over 300 books currently downloaded on it and I try to keep them in appropriate collections. Most of them are organised by author or series ('Stephen King', or 'Brother Cadfael'), but the vast majority of them are one off books that I have picked up on a whim during Amazon sales, and hence, have no home. So they live in a collection called 'Dodgy Stuff I Downloaded'. <_<. Anyway, I decided to add some more sub-catagories, and take all the books that I have finished reading and put them in their own folder, so I can keep track of my current total. Because I like to keep score. Or something. It was a massive undertaking, but worth it.... although I still have about 150 books on my computer that I need to sort through, and see which ones I want to try out. I tend to pick them up in the Amazon sales, so they are either classics, self-published works or stuff that has sold poorly and that I am basically taking a chance on.
So far, only one book I downloaded turned out to be really dodgy. Some of them have been a bit dull, or generally badly written, but on the whole it's been great. I've read a good number of things that I might not have touched otherwise, and I love the fact that I can get books so cheap and carry them around en mass without breaking my spine under the weight of them. XD And my actual 'real' books stay nice and shiny and pretty, just the way I like them, which is an added bonus. <3
Speaking of real books, my copy of 'Sword of Caledor' by William King arrived yesterday. William King is one of my favourite authors, and has been ever since I read the 'Gotrek and Felix' novels when I was 12. ^__^ He does a lot of fantasy stuff outside of the Games Workshop universe, but his current trilogy is about my favourite Warhammer characters, Tyrion and Teclis. Seeing as pretty much every other Warhammer book being released at the moment is either about Space Marines or is written by Gav Thorpe (nice bloke, but a terrible writer) it is awesome to have the characters I love being brought to life by a writer that I love. I have both 'Sword of Caledor' and the first book, 'Blood of Aenarion' in hardback. The third one will be out at the end of this year.
....and I also have them both in e-book form, too, because the hardbacks look so pretty and I don't want to damage them. >_>; Because I am a bit sad like that.
Anyway, I am kind of rambling and I'm not sure why, so I'm going to go away now.
