*collapses*
Feb. 15th, 2014 06:09 pm Today has been.... odd.
It's actually been a really good day, but also slightly disjointed and rushed. I have achieved a lot, which actually surprised me- I had a feeling that today would be a wash-out like yesterday, where I went to bed for a short nap and ended up losing the entire afternoon! ^__-;
So, I started the day with a nice 2.5 mile circular walk, which took me first to the butcher's for this week's meat, and then to Lidl for some chopped tomatoes and baked beans. While in Lidl I saw the most amazing lamp, but since my budget is amazingly tiny, I realised I couldn't afford it. -__-; When I was checking out, however, I got a coin stuck in one of the back flaps of my wallet and while I was trying to get it out again, I discovered a £10 which I had obviously squirrelled away in there at some point in the long forgotten past. XD So now I have this:

I've seen these lamps before for a hell of a lot more than what was being charged for them in Lidl, and I have always wanted one. ^___^; The fact that it came in my favourite shade of acid green is really just the icing on the cake... Thanks to the mystery £10, of course! I sort of feel as if Fate was telling me I need to read in bed more, or something like that.... ^___-;
So then I cam home, had my driving lesson (I'm improving, but still nowhere near ready to take my test...), and hoovered my bedroom. While I was doing that I set the lamp up, and discovered that my 'lost' Nintendo DS was in fact behind my chest of drawers, exactly where I thought it had gone but hidden from view because of the shape of the back of the drawers. >_>; If I hadn't pulled them out to get the cable behind them I never would have seen it.... and man, I am GLAD I found it- I was starting to think it had been stolen, and I don't like thinking that about people. It still works flawlessly too, which is excellent. I may well end up selling it, but yeah... good to actually *have* it again. XD
I tidied up a bit too, because a few stray little bits of mess had worked in (like an epic collection of bus tickets on my side table- little things like that) and then I tried rearranging my book shelves to make them look neater. But alas, to no avail- I have more books than space to put them on, and all my novels are mixed in with my midwifery books, which drives me nuts. -___-;
And then I went on facebook- and lo and behold! Somebody on freecycle was giving away a bookcase!! ^________^; And to make it even better- they live about 3mins from my house!! And I was lucky enough to spot it before anybody else- so, after a short jog in the rain, I lumbered home again with a bookcase on my back and got it set up. ^__^; It's only small, but it makes a huge difference- it's allowed me to thin out my dragon collection where it was getting a bit crowded, and sort out all my collector's books/gaming books/novels into one place, and have all my work/midwifery books in another. It's amazing! And completely free!! <3

I still have a lot of books in storage, some of which will end up on here. I have a lot of novels, including my set of 4 very rare Sonic the Hedgehog novels, and a signed Terry Pratchett comic book. But so far, it's looking good!
I'm now knackered from the long walk and the unexpected furniture carrying, but tomorrow I will be sorting through some of my boxes looking for stuff to take to the charity shop or give away. A lot of it I know I need to keep, but my hoarding tendancies mean that I have to take a look and clear stuff out fairly often, otherwise I will keep things for eternity when they have no actual or emotional value whatsoever. >_>; And besides- I *like* freecycle. I like the idea that my stuff will be used again, rather than just dumped or abandoned. It's a nice idea.
