Huh, where the hell have I been??

 I have not updated my journals (any of them) since April.  A lot of stuff has happened since then- some good, some bad.  Some... meh.
So, here is the quick round-up of my life as it is, not in any particular oder:

-I deferred on my degree, and will be carrying on next year.  I have done this primarily for health reasons, but also because of some of the internal politics at the hospital which I neither enjoy, nor want to go into much detail about.  Needless to say, some people are plebs, and have been very obstructive.  I should now qualify around March next year, which is good.
-I finished my dissertation.  Every second of it was hell.
-I put on a butt-ton of weight thanks to stress.  I am now working on losing that.
-I discovered that I can't get job seekers allowance because I am still legally a student, so I am broke as all hell.
-I still hate driving.
-My housemate went to France for an elective and I discovered that 1. I can live alone quite happily and 2. he is messy as all fuck, because now the place is clean and it is mysteriously staying clean.  He comes back tomorrow. -___-;
-I got another snake. 


So yeah, right now life is stressful, but it could be worse.  I'm lucky enough to have my Dad helping me out, and I have sold some stuff (including the last of my Monster High girls) in order to help ends meet.  There is at least an end in sight, and this time next year all this will be a small footnote in my life (I hope.)

Anyway, here are some pretty pictures of my two little lovelies: Princess Opal (who had only just arrived in my last post!) and Rambo.

Opal:
My little Snow corn snake.  She'll be two years old in a couple of weeks time, and continues to be a darling. :)   I handle her almost daily, and she is growing very rapidly indeed.  She has taken to spending her time watching me from her little hide, as if things will fall apart if she's not there to supervise.  I honestly can't imagine being without her now- she's pretty much everything you could want from a snake.

Rambo:
I got Rambo from a local man who needed to get rid of him because he was moving on to breeding Royal Pythons.  Now, I have issues with people who offload pets to get other pets anyway, but initially I was sort of OK with it because the guy was nice.  Since getting Rambo, though, there have been other issues: he arrived very underweight, which was apparently due to him not feeding during breeding season.  However, the vet feels that his weight loss was excessive for a breeding fast, and I am inclined to agree. :(  Also, he has old damage to two of his ribs which- while he eats and poos just fine- seems to make it hard for him to shed, and he ends up tearing the old skin of in shreds and finds it very stressful.  I was also recently told by some more experienced reptile keepers that he has classic King Snake traits, and may well be a hybrid, rather than a pure corn snake (which again I wasn't told about).  Since he's a classic Ghost colouration, I would guess that one of his grandparents was the king snake. >_>;
He is five years old, four and a half feet long, and a complete and utter arsehole.  For some reason I love him anyway.

Unlike Opal, Rambo does not appreciate human contact very much, so I only handle him twice a week, just to keep him tame.  He can be a huffy bastard, but he has a forever-home here, and will not be going anywhere else no matter how much he tries to drive me away. ;)


So yeah.  That's me.  How are all of you guys, who still use Dreamwidth or LJ? :)
