Ssssssssssssssssssssnake!
Apr. 27th, 2014 06:05 pm I know, I know... I really suck at updating. :( I'm sorry. A lot of you guys now follow me on Facebook, though, so I doubt there's much I need to post here that you don't already know. The basics, though, are this:
-I'm currently on steroids for an unexplained allergic reaction, and the steroids have obliterated my diet by making me on water weight. Other than that, I am relatively well.
-I'm on new depression medication (prozac) and it seems to be doing the job.
-I am still attempting to write my dissertation. I would like to violently slap the person who invented dissertations, because they are horrible and evil. Other than that, course is going well, and I should be applying for jobs soon.
-I now own a corn snake.
I picked her up today, and she has become the instant (non-human) love of my life:
Not sure what her colour type is- most likely she's a snow, but she might be a snopal (which is like a snow but with more pink). It's hard to tell because she is 20 months old- too young to show her adult colours, but too old to still look exactly like a hatchling. But whatever- I don't really care what the technical word for her type is. She's stunning and I love her.
Her name will either be Opal or Tequila Rose. I haven't decided yet.
This is her set-up:
The big blue thing is the pillow case she came home in. She's still hiding in it, wondering weather or not to come out. XD She has two hides (one of which is skull shaped, but you can't see it here), two logs to climb on, and a hammock in the back corner. She also has a heat mat (connected to a thermostat- I'm doing this right!) but you can't see it. She's about 2 feet long and actually very tame, although the car trip home has made her a bit wary of things.
I look forward to when she's happy to come out and play. ^__^ She really is a beauty, and I have wanted a snake since I was about 10. So, I decided to treat myself to an early birthday present and get one!
